Stephen la Porta (AKA Goggleman)
Stephen La Porta, drummer and multi-percussionist, enjoys performing and recording in a variety of musical styles -- his mission is to provide a supportive anchor while still creating his own voice in the music. In addition to his work with Candy and the Sweet Tooths, Steve has contributed his skills to many recordings, including those by Ramana Vieira, Albert Benichou, East Bay Mudd, Blue Bossa, LZ Phoenix, Joti, Mike Sweetland, Bob Falstein, Otta Nowhere, Loren Davidson, LZ Love, and many others.
A sampling of the major Bay Area venues at which he has performed include: the Warfield Theatre, the Concord Pavilion, the Great American Music Hall, the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society, the Sweetwater, St. Marys, Bimbos, Shoreline Amphitheater, the Regency Theatre, 142 Throckmorton, the Catalyst, the Gallo Center for the Arts, the Fairmont Hotel, Slims, Biscuits and Blues, San Francisco Civic Center, dozens of festivals, and the Claremont Hotel, where he has been part of Delish, the house band for nine years.
Originally, from Chicago, Illinois, Steve received his B.A in English from U.C. Berkeley. In his spare time, he plays sports, gardens, works out, tools around with his vintage cars and cooks vegetarian dishes. Steve continues to expand his musical horizons under the study of his musical mentors, Chuck Brown and Michael Spiro.
